aXcess-Clergy/Vocational Track: BRING RESTORATION TO THE ADDICTED IN CAMBODIA
The Alliance is looking for someone to initiate an addiction recovery ministry in Cambodia.
Position Type

Drug and alcohol addiction is devastating unprecedented numbers of people in Cambodia, particularly the youth and young adults. This will be a pioneering initiative to bring a Christ-centered recovery ministry to Cambodia.
Required Qualifications:
- Recovery ministry training and/or experience
- Completion of Alliance Polity course
- Completion of the Perspectives on the World Christian Movement course or equivalent
- Demonstrated positive ministry involvement in the local church
- A minimum Modern Language Aptitude Test (MLAT) score of 70
Biblical Characteristics Desired:
- Kingdom minded
- Biblically grounded
- Spirit dependent
- Competently skilled
- Self-aware
- Self-disciplined
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the developing world, working in a cross-cultural setting
- Experience serving with an addiction recovery ministry
- International Ministries clergy qualifications (if a couple, at least one partner)
Responsibilities:
- Develop a center in which those struggling with addictions can experience Christ-centered freedom and recovery
- Oversee and train a small team of Cambodian workers
Timeline for Deployment:
Summer/Fall 2022. All appointees are required to attend a cross-cultural and language acquisition program and Pre-Field Orientation prior to deploying.
Work and Living Environment:
The successful applicant(s) will live in a simple rural setting, just 30 minutes from a provincial capital and two hours from Phnom Penh.

Language Expectations:
Language is an essential part of ministry. Khmer language learning will begin with one year of full-time language study in Phnom Penh. The goal will be to speak, read, and write the language at a functional level in order to mentor, teach, and train others.
Health Considerations:
Applicants should be in good health. Cambodia is a part of the developing world.
Expectations for Spouse:
Spousal roles vary based on the spouse’s gifts, training, and abilities, as well as the needs of the team. It is expected that both spouses will be meaningfully involved in meeting ministry objectives, depending on the nature of family roles, children, etc.
Children’s Educational Plan and Options:
Education options include homeschooling for elementary-age children or boarding school for high school-age youth.
Important Clarification:
Applicants should be aware that serving in the international world often requires a higher degree of grace and flexibility. For example, overseas teams can be suddenly and unexpectedly impacted by illness, government decisions, financial realities, team changes, or other factors beyond the team’s control. The challenge for applicants is that these factors can sometimes necessitate the sudden redefining of a position, which may take place before, during, or after the application/interview process.
Compensation
The successful applicant(s) will receive a full compensation package with the expectation that, once appointed, efforts will be made to raise a portion of support costs through the applicant’s network of friends and family, local church, or other resources. Information on support costs will be made available upon application. Training and/or coaching in fund-raising is available.
